Cannabis Sativa, also known as cannabis, is a flowering plant that is native to Central and South Asia. The term “cannabis” encompasses several non-scientific classifications that include “marijuana” (when the plant has high levels of THC) and “hemp” (when grown for industrial purposes, with little to no THC). The Cannabis plant has been cultivated and used by humankind for several thousands of years as a source of food and textile fiber, as well as a medicinal substance, and a recreational and spiritual drug.
