In cannabis cultivation, germination is a process through which the cannabis seeds are “activated.” Cannabis seeds can remain in a vegetative state for years if properly stored. Germination is done by keeping the cannabis seeds in a dark, damp environment for several days. After this short period, the seed shells break and the first sprouts come out. Germination is often done before planting the seeds to make sure they sprout correctly. Once the seeds have germinated, they’re ready to be planted.
