Hemp is a strain of the cannabis plant that contains low THC levels and is typically grown for industrial purposes. Hemp has been bred by human kind for thousands of years to produce textile fibers, paper, paint, food, and construction materials. Hemp needs to contain less than 0.3% THC to not be considered marijuana (0.2% in Europe). However, hemp does contain large amounts of other cannabinoids, most notably CBD. This is why hemp is used to produce CBD oil and other therapeutic cannabis products.
