Residual Solvent

Residual solvents are left-over chemicals that sometimes remain in bad quality cannabis extracts and concentrates after the extraction process has been completed. Solvents are used in some extraction methods to separate the active components of cannabis from the plant material. After this process is done, solvents must be removed from the concentrate. If the extraction is not done properly, solvents can be included in the final retail product. Residual solvents can be very hazardous to human health and cause problems like irritation, headaches, dizziness, seizures, and in some cases, death. Quality cannabis products should offer third-party lab testing that analyzes the final product to make sure that no toxic materials are found.
