Trichomes are microscopic, crystalline, mushroom-shaped protuberances that from outside of the cannabis plant’s flowers and leaves when the cannabis is mature. They are produced by the cannabis plant to protect itself from predators and environmental dangers. Trichomes are especially valuable in cannabis production because they represent the part of the plant where the highest amounts cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids are concentrated. Separating the trichomes from the rest of the plant is the main objective of cannabis extraction.
